Memorial Day - Remembering Those Who Have Served Our Country ~

Today we remember the men and women who have bravely served our country, especially those who have given their lives for our freedom. I am thankful for the men in our own family who have served our country. I am so proud of them! And Tom and I are so thankful that God has called us to serve the men and women who serve our country.

Tom served during the Vietnam era. He volunteered and had orders to go to Vietnam but was taken off his ship to serve as a heavy equipment instructor in Okinawa. My late father, Walter McNeamer, was a decorated veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his part in the battle at the Bridge of Remagen in Germany.

Our son-in-law, Mitch, served in two gulf wars.

My brother, Gary, served in Vietnam.

Our daughter-in-law Julie's dad, Orville Augustin, served in World War 2.

Touring Los Angeles ~

Tom preached four times at Faith Baptist in Canoga Park, CA on Memorial Day Sunday. He will also preach twice to about 400 Junior High and Senior High students in their Christian School on Tuesday, June 2. Pastor Tim Rasmussen was so kind to give us a little tour of the Los Angeles area. We will also see the Reagan Memorial and attend a Dodgers baseball game on Tuesday. The Rasmussens are such wonderful hosts.

We stopped at the famous Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills. Pastor Tim insisted on buying us a half dozen. They were delicious (and should be at $3.25 EACH!!!!)

Giving Our Apartment a Fix Up ~

We have been doing some painting and redecorating in our apartment. We have been working on it for a while and still have a little ways to go. But thanks to one of our German young men we are almost finished with the painting and then we can finish some redecorating. Above is our freshly painted living room as we began to put the furniture back in place. I am looking forward to having lots of people over to enjoy our "new" apartment.

RRBC Children Singing To Tom On His 47th Spiritual Birthday

video
Tom's celebrated his 47th spiritual birthday on Saturday, May 15. On Sunday he preached a special sermon entitled "The Best Is Yet To Come", which is actually an allegory that includes parts of his own testimony. God has used this sermon tremendously in the past and God blessed it again on Sunday. Sunday night some of our church children surprised him with a little song wishing him a "happy born again birthday". I couldn't get my phone video going quickly enough to record all of it, but here is a part of the song.

Happy 70th Birthday to My Sweetheart ~

It is hard to believe that Tom is now 70 years old...May 9. He doesn't look 70 years old (or am I just seeing him through 67 year old eyes (-: ) He has a wonderful youthful spirit that I love. He is always positive and happy and refuses to worry. I am very fortunate to have such a husband and I love him dearly. Happy Birthday, Tom! I have posted a few pictures that tell a little about him.

A dedicated, compassionate, loving Pastor and a great preacher.

A passionate fisherman.

A loving husband, father and grandfather.

Once a marine - always a marine....and proud of it!!!!

Remembering Mother on Mother's Day ~

"If roses grow in Heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me. Place them in my mother's arms and tell her they're from me. Tell her I love her and miss her. And when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Because remembering her is easy, I do it everyday but there's an ache within my heart. So....Happy Mother's Day in Heaven, Mom.

Another Birthday Celebration for Madison - This Time At Cracker Barrell

Happy Birthday To You.....the servers at Cracker Barrell singing to Maddy.

My birthday girl. She had so many birthday celebrations.

Getting in our last minute hugs with Haley Bug.

Bradley is so outnumbered by girls in the family that he sometimes is overlooked. He is a super guy, though and I love him to pieces.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR MADDY CAKES~

On May 5 our Madison Nicole will be nine years old. Since we are returning to Germany next week, and other scheduling conflicts, we celebrated her birthday a little early. Tom and I were so thrilled that we were in the states on her birthday. People sometimes ask me what is the hardest part of being a missionary in a foreign country...well, this is it...missing so many special events in our children and grandchildren's lives. But we are blessed to see Dawn and her family at least a couple times each year and then to have Mark and his family serving with us in Germany. We just treasure the moments.

We call Maddy 'Sunshine' because she lights up the room when she comes in. Every day is an exciting adventure for her. She asked Jesus to be her Savior not long ago!! Some of the things she loves: church, singing, softball, clothes, dress up, sleep overs, Disney World, checkers, Uno, twice baked potatoes and eating out. And she loves her Mommy, Daddy, brother, sissy, grandparents and cousins. She always makes her Opa and Oma feel so special. Usually the first words out of her mouth when we come for a visit are "Can I spend the night with you?" (We have a home outside of Chattanooga.) We love you Maddy Cakes....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

We were so glad to be able to be in the states on Maddy's birthday.

Maddy loves clothes and so she was so excited over her new purse, which was also filled with gifts.

Opa got in on presents, too. Since we will be back in Germany on his birthday on May 9 Dawn and the kids presented him with some gifts, too. He is tickled pink over his new DVD on World War II campaign stories....25 HOURS....oh me!!!!

Nine candles aren't too hard to blow out!

The party moved out to the deck for cake and ice cream.
