I've never seen anything like World Cup fever here in Germany. Germany played England today AND WON! There were horns blowing, people on the streets draped in German flags and waving to traffic. Usually in our village you don't need a T.V. to know when Germany scores...you can hear shouts up and down our streets. Most houses have a German flag displayed (and a few other countries). On my way to church tonight I snapped a few pictures of homes with flags flying. The one above is our own apartment with our landlord's German flag flying.

I have posted a few pictures of our beautiful balcony in all its summer splendor. We have a man in our village who helps me with my balcony flowers each year. He owns a "blumen" (florist) shop but he lets me bring my own pots and he fills them with flowers at half of what it would cost me to do it. Flowers are one of the few bargains in Germany. I can't tell you what rest it is for my heart and soul to sit out on the balcony and read, enjoy the flowers and listen to the birds singing.

Tom and Mark had the wonderful opportunity recently to be a "fill in" Dad for two of our precious children whose Dads are deployed. Tom was Isa's fill in Dad for a Father-Son fishing outing. Isa's Dad is in Afghanistan. Mark was Katy's fill in Dad for an end of the year school activity. Katy's Dad is in Iraq. For some reason Katy's picture would not post any larger than it is...but she is such a cutie pie.

Our Emily officially finished high school today!!! She took her last exam this morning with nearly 100% on all her exams. We are so proud of her. She has been an excellent, hard working student. She will have her graduation ceremony and reception in July but congratulations are already in order. WE LOVE YOU EMMY!!!

After living in our apartment for ten years we started in October '09 to paint and 'freshen" it up a bit. It has taken us a while but we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. We have to paint the foyer still and a little more decorating in the dining room but we are almost finished. There's no place like home.

I ask those who read my blog page to pray for our son, Mark, who has had some serious health issues in the past couple of weeks. He had to be hospitalized for a couple of days with an irregular heart beat. They had to finally do an electro shock to put his heart back in rhythm. He has evidently inherited this condition from Tom who was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation when he was 40 years old. Mama is concerned!!!

During our Sunday evening service this week there came a downpour of rain. After the service we discovered that once again there was flooding in our new annex where our Haven of Rest Mission apartment is being finished. Our men have worked so hard on this project so it was a disappointment to say the least, but everyone went about the mopping up with a sweet spirit. Our son, Mark, has headed up the building project and here he is looking at the ceiling as one of our men inspects the leak where water was coming in. It was a disappointment, but we believe God is in control of all these circumstances.

While we were in Canoga Park, CA for a special Memorial Day service Pastor Tim Rasmussen arranged for us to attend a Dodger's ballgame. It was an exciting defensive game that went into one inning of overtime with a score of 0-0. At the bottom of the 10th inning the Dodger's Matt Kemp hit a walk off home run to give the Dodgers a 0-1 victory. I love baseball and it was such a treat to attend this game. Thanks Bro. Tim!!
